PAUL GERMAIN - 15 Dec 2001, 12:57:34:
TO RUTH NORVILUS, SANDRA MENAT, AGGEE ALCINDOR, AND OTHERS:Haiti, you are the country of my people with such great and influence history over the world. You've always been there to show the world a lesson that no other country ever thought about: the lesson of equality of the human races. In the history of the world, you have stood up for human dignity against those countries who call themselves "civilized".
Simply, your history makes you unique. Your past and your present have already determined yourself, more importantly your resistance as the first in the Western Hemisphere to say No TO SLAVERY, NO DESTRUCTION of HUMANITY. If, there was a noble price for humanty, you are the winner of that price! But, your color and your thinking which have already TROUBLED the world, indeed you have acted in the interest of the oppressed people to teach them how to sing several songs of freedom. For these reasons, you will never win such price.
However, to win a prize giving by those oppressors is like lowering yourself. This price is meaningless compared to many songs of freedom you have taught others to sing! My only regret is that your own children have long forgotten how to sing the song of freedom for themselves!
